PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
 

PURPOSE

 
The objective of the Personal and Social Adjustment Service offered by Arc Mid-Cities is to develop and maintain functional skills in individuals with disabilities so they may enhance their employability and job maintenance skills, and achieve their highest levels of employment and integration into the community.

 

EXPECTED OUTCOME

 
Individuals with barriers to employment, i.e. emotional, personal, or social, will be given the opportunity to develop and maintain independent functioning skills and to be included in an employment situation of their choice.  

 

ENTRANCE CRITERIA

Persons with developmental disabilities who are eligible for
  Department of Rehabilitation Services

Persons with specific needs related to their successful transition
  into community-based programming, which can be addressed by
  services outlined  

No exclusions from the program are made from program 
  participation on the basis of race, creed, national origin, sex,
  or age.

 

 

REFERRAL SOURCES  

Ø Consumer self-referral

Department of Rehabilitation Counselor

Regional Center Consumer Service Coordinators

Arc Mid-Cities Staff

Other referral sources, as long as entrance criteria are met

 

PROGRAM CURRICULUM

Training will be offered in the following areas:
 
Behavior Management Skills

 Age Appropriate Behavior Skills

 Functional Living Skills

 Leisure and Recreation Skills

 Community Orientation and Mobility Skills

 Grooming and Hygiene Skills

  Nutrition and Diet Skills

 Health Maintenance Skills

  Self-Advocacy Skills

  Empowerment Skills

  Pre-Vocational Skills

  Job Readiness and Retention Skills

 

 

BARRIER TO EMPLOYMENT

Barriers may be identified by:  

  Interview with the consumer

  Interviews with the care provider/parent

  Historical information

 Team meetings

  Observation

 

 

LENGTH OF PROGRAM

 
Depending upon the participant’s area(s) of need, the length of program participation will be established by the Department of Rehabilitation Counselor and Arc Mid-Cities Workshop CRP.
 
Total length of workshop will not exceed two (2) hours per day for three (3) months, unless requested by the Department of Rehabilitation.



STAFF/CONSUMER RATIO

 
Trainers will work with the consumers on an individual basis and in groups.  On an individual basis the ratio will be 1 to 1 consumer to staff ratio.
 
  
PROGRAM HOURS
 
Two (2) hours per day,
 Monday through Friday
   Between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m
