Direct Care Staff

Job Description

Department: Behavior Management Program

Reports to: Unit Supervisor

Conditions: Full Time, Permanent


Duties and
responsibilities include:

The direct care staff will work with a consumer in an individual placement or three (3) consumers in enclaves or group placement.  He/she will train and assist consumer(s) with job tasks by implementing training strategies and ensure that all required job site work is complete as stated in the contract specifications.  Job Developer or Site Supervisor will properly brief direct care staff on joy site specifications

Direct Care Staff ensures the safety of each consumer while transporting to and from worksite.  He/she will also be responsible with the vehicle assigned to him/her by inspecting it on a daily basis and informing the transportation department of any problem with the vehicle by filling-out the vehicle inspection report.

Direct Care Staff is required to monitor the consumer(s) at all times, ensuring that each consumer receives the maximum amount of attention needed whenever problems arise.  Consumers' medication monitoring may also be required.  At the end of each day, direct care staff will submit case notes or any incident reports acquired during the day.  Attendance will be submitted to the accounting department on the first (1st) and sixteen (16th) day of each month.

Other duties include, ,but not limited to, extensive report writing (Consumers 90-day evaluation and annual progress reports), Transporting consumers to and from their homes, Time Studies, Payroll, Incident Reports, etc.

The direct care staff also will train consumers to abide by Arc Mid-Cities policies, as relating to eating and smoking in the vans, horseplay, dress code, etc.  Direct care staff will also ensure that each consumer and other members of the work crew observe safety rules and regulations.

Direct Care Staff will be working with his/her assigned consumers in either of the following contracts of retail, shipping and receiving, gardening, landscaping, and janitorial maintenance.
 

Minimum Qualifications

Direct Care Staff is required to have the following before their start date of employment:

1) A valid California Drivers License
2) A clean driving record (DMV H-6 Print-out)
3) A clear criminal background (will pass DOJ/CHP fingerprinting)
4) High School Diploma or GED
